Dancers take Spanish steps.YOUNG Coventry dancers are hoping to become international winners next month at a dance special in Barcelona. Thirty dancers from Freeman Dance (above) will be heading to Europe to take part in the Barcelona International Dance Awards - and will be taking along 60 supporters as well. The dancers, who are aged between 11 and 22, will be performing a 70s-style routine, a street dance and an Irish dance Irish dances come in several forms, which can broadly be divided into social dances and performance dances. Irish social dancing can be divided further into céilí and set dancing. and tap dance trade-off performance. The dance competition is Europe's largest and more than 1,500 dancers representing 18 countries took part last year. The event takes place between March 20 and 24 this year. Dance teacher Jill Freeman says: "This is the first time we have taken part in this event and we are all very excited. We have eight boys and 24 girls going along. "We've never been to Barcelona before, but over the past few years we have taken troupes to dance in the International Children's Festival in Serbia, the Fantasyland fan·ta·sy·land n. A place conjured up by the imagination, often populated by bizarre inhabitants: a fictional fantasyland teeming with unicorns and elves.
