Dance films go global.

The 34th annual Dance on Camera Festival goes international in a big way. The filmmakers hail from Africa, India, Netherlands, Norway, Hungary, and Turkey. The subjects range from commercial choreographer Vincent Paterson (who worked with Madonna and Michael Jackson), to uber-punk British choreographer Michael Clark, to temple dancers who lived in the roaring 1920s of India, to the tap dancing Silver Belles of Harlem (above). The festival, co-sponsored by the Film Society of Lincoln Center, takes place this month in three venues: the Walter Reade Theatre at Lincoln Center, the Galapagos Art Space in Brooklyn, and the Donnell Media Center of The New York Public Library in midtown.
