Musicsoft, Inc., Dance eJay II places the power of dance music creation on any multimedia PC. Over 1,000 professionally recorded samples can be arranged and mixed on eight stereo tracks, then played with real-time pitch altering. Custom samples can even be recorded, with final mixes output to .wav files The native digital audio format in Windows. Using the .WAV file extension, 8- or 16-bit samples can be taken at rates of 11,025 Hz, 22,050 Hz and 44,100 Hz. The highest quality (16-bit at 44,100 Hz) is the sampling rate of an audio CD and uses 88KB of storage per second.  (to post and share online or to burn personal mix CDs).

"The dance music genre has been wildly popular in Europe for quite a few years, and we're finally seeing it break into the U.S. mainstream," said Seth Dotterer, director of marketing for Voyetra Turtle Beach. "Dance eJay II will give dance fans -- regardless of their musical talent -- the chance to emulate em·u·late

their favorite club DJs, manipulating provided and custom-recorded music samples to create unique, professional-sounding mixes."

The main Dance eJay II screen places multiple samples from each of 10 color-coded categories (Loop, Drum, Bass, Guitar, Sequence, Layer, Rap, Voice, Effect, Xtra) in a scrollable window A window that contains more data than is visible at one time. Its contents can be scrolled (moved up, down, sideways within the window) in order to view the entire document, image or list of items. , from which sounds can be auditioned and then dragged-and-dropped onto any of eight tracks. Each track can then be selected to deliver stereo, left only, or right only output (for panning effects).

If a user wants to use a custom sample not included on the CD, two options exist. He can either import a standard .wav file, or enter the Dance eJay II recording box to lay down his own stylings with the aid of optical and acoustical metronomes (accurate time keeping is crucial for looped samples).

Dance eJay II requires a 486DX 33 or higher, Windows 3.1/95/98/NT, 2X CD-ROM drive A device that holds and reads CD-ROM discs. CD-ROM drives generally also play audio CD discs by sending analog sound to the sound card via a 4-pin cable. For specifications of 10x, 20x, etc. drives, see CD-ROM drives.
