Dance Magazine celebrates National Dance Week April 23-May 2.National Dance Week is a chance for dancers, dance teachers, and other dance professionals to help create greater visibility for dance in their communities. Started in 1981, NDW NDW Naval District Washington NDW Ne'er-Do-Well NDW Nevada Department of Wildlife NDW National Data Warehouse NDW Normal Distance Weighting (geostatistics) NDW Navigation Decision Workstation (US Navy) is a grassroots effort. The idea is that what's good for the field and essential for the art form will benefit individual artists and organizations as well: more students for classes, more seats filled in theaters, higher levels of funding for companies. To learn how you can participate, go to www.nationaldanceweek.org. In celebration of National Dance Week, DANCE MAGAZINE and Capezio/Ballet Makers Inc. sponsor an annual poster contest. Each year, young dancers in three age categories pick up colored pencils and paint to help bring dance to a wider audience. Some teachers make poster creation a class project! It costs nothing to enter our contest, and winners receive cash prizes and certificates. Watch the pages of DANCE MAGAZINE for details and deadlines for 2005.
