Dan plans a shock.

Byline: Craig Swan
Craig Steven Swan (born November 30, 1950) was a Major League Baseball pitcher from 1973 to 1984 for the New York Mets and California Angels. Swan's best season came in 1978 when he posted a 9-6 won-loss record and led the National League with an earned run average of 2.43.

DAN PETRESCU Daniel Vasile Petrescu (born 22 December, 1967 in Bucharest, Romania) is a former international football player, whose teams included Steaua Bucureşti, English Premiership clubs Chelsea and Sheffield Wednesday, and the Romanian national side.  last night insisted his unknown Unirea Urziceni side can be the shock troops of Group G. The former Chelsea star knows his Romanian minnows will not be given a prayer of progressing to the last 16 in their first Champions League campaign.

Rangers, Sevilla and Stuttgart will pose the tests for Petrescu but the Unirea boss has warned them not to under-estimate his charges.

He said: "It depends on which way you look at the group. It is fair to say we have not been drawn against the greatest teams possible.

"You cannot compare Rangers, Sevilla or Stuttgart with say Inter Milan, AC Milan or Barcelona.

"Yes it will still be difficult but we will go into the six matches looking to get points from these teams."

Petrescu, left, won the Romanian title on a shoestring budget and Unirea have nothing like the riches of illustrious neighbours such as Steaua Bucharest. In fact, their debut Champions League campaign will help rescue their president Dumitru Buscaru from a financial crisis.

It is understood Buscaru owes millions of pounds to powerful Steaua counterpart Gigi Becali and the pounds 8million guaranteed from participation in Group G will go straight to the Bucharest supremo su·pre·mo
