Dan David Prize Committee to Announce Recipients of Million-Dollar Prizes at Paris Press Conference.


The Dan David Prize The Dan David Prize annually gives three $1 million prizes to honor achievements aimed at understanding or affecting the world.There are three categories of prize — the Past, Present and Future.  by the Dan David Foundation and based at Tel Aviv University Tel Aviv University (TAU, אוניברסיטת תל־אביב, את"א) is Israel's largest on-site university. , annually awards three prizes of $1 million each to laureates selected in the fields chosen within the three time dimensions of Past, Present, and Future. This year's prize recipients will be announced at a Paris press conference Friday, February 24, in connection with the French Ministry of Culture.

The categories chosen for the 2006 time dimensions are: Past - - Preserving Cultural Heritage: Individuals' Contributions; Present -- Journalists of the Print Media; and Future -- Cancer Therapy.

Awards will be conferred at a ceremony at Tel Aviv University in May.

The Dan David Prize recognizes and encourages innovative and interdisciplinary research while fostering the universal values In philosophy, universal values is an attempt to establish a finite set of concepts that are recognized by all human beings as morally good.

The discussion of universal values is quite unsettled (often controversial), and therefore, can start from many different places:
 of excellence, creativity, justice, democracy and progress. It promotes the scientific, technological and humanistic achievements that advance and improve the world.
