DAME Tanni Grey-Thompson Dame Carys Davina ("Tanni") Grey-Thompson DBE (born 26 July 1969 in Cardiff, Wales) is a Welsh athlete and TV presenter.

Born with spina bifida, Tanni is a wheelchair-user, and is considered to be one of the most successful disabled athletes in the UK.
 took silver in her final race in a GB vest at the Visa Paralympic World Cup in Manchester.

"It was a really emotional day," she said.

"It's probably the only time in my life I didn't mind coming second. I can actually say it was the taking part that counted.

"I don't have to do another sprint start again and I'm really pleased about that. I never, ever, want to do that again."

Tanni now becomes a non-executive director of the board of UK Athletics UK Athletics is the governing body for the sport of athletics in the United Kingdom.

UK Athletics was founded in 1999 as a successor to the British Athletics Federation, which had collapsed for financial reasons.

She said: "I'm looking forward to the opportunity to make a real difference from the inside."
