Damaging virus set to trigger on Aug. 22; Hare virus overwrites all hard disk data, Dr. Solomon's provides protection.


BURLINGTON, Mass.--(BUSINESS WIRE)--Aug. 15, 1996--Dr. Solomon's Software Inc., the worldwide leader in virus detection and repair, today warned that the Hare (alias Krsna and HDEuthanasia) computer virus is set to trigger on August 22 and September 22 and may cause significant damage.

Dr. Solomon's (Dr. Solomon's, a McAfee, Inc. solution, www.drsolomon.com) An early developer of computer virus detection, identification and disinfection tools, originally created for all major operating systems. Founded in 1984, Dr.  is making a detector available to the general public on its Web site (http://www.drsolomon.com) as protection from the Hare virus. Computer users may download an evaluation copy of Dr. Solomon's FindVirus virus detector v7.62.

Hare is a newly identified virus that has escaped into the computing public (which is known as being "in the wild" among virus researchers). It is a stealth (tries to remain inconspicuous in·con·spic·u·ous
