Damage to Urdd; yourLETTERS.

READING the list of schools faced with possible closure or amalgamation in Conwy, I wondered how much thought is being given to the effect this will have on the Urdd, especially the Eisteddfod? The competitions for schools with under 50 children may well disappear and there will be less loyalty from children and families who have, for many years, competed against each other.

One of the joys of the Eisteddfod is to see children from small village schools taking part.

Once schools are all much larger it will be tempting to pick 'the best' to compete rather than include everyone.

It may also make the cost of travelling with larger groups very expensive.

I hope this will open a debate around Wales so that these issues can be aired.
