Dallas Mayor Mary Poss and Prudential Financial SVP Anne Davidson Declare December 5th "Bunny Love Day to Save the Children".

Dallas Mayor Mary Poss and Prudential Financial Senior Vice President Anne Davidson have declared December 5th to be "Bunny Love Day to Save the Children" to focus attention on the issue of domestic violence against children.

In addition, Davidson, founder of the Dallas-based Bunny Love Foundation, announced the creation of a challenge grant to benefit the Dallas Children's Advocacy Center, a child protection agency that also specializes in education, training and prevention of child abuse. The Bunny Love Foundation will match - up to $50,000 - all contributions to the DCAC made between now and Christmas Day.

At a news conference at City Hall, Mayor Poss read an official proclamation declaring December 5th a day dedicated to increasing public awareness of the crisis of domestic violence against children. The press conference was held December 4th, a day set aside by President Bush as a "National Day of Reconciliation." The President asked Americans to take time to remember unity, reconciliation and charity. President Bush has also asked Americans to remember their local charities in addition to their generous financial contributions after the national September 11th tragedy.

Davidson said that, "I will make December 5th a global day of awareness that will raise the level of consciousness about the suffering that so many children go through every day. I would like Dallas to be a model for other cities all over the world to follow to help eliminate domestic abuse against children everywhere," said Davidson.

It is especially helpful during this year when we have had such an alarming increase in the number of child deaths and the overall incidents of child abuse."

The Bunny Love Foundation was founded in 1997. Its mascot character, Bunny Love, is a guardian angel who visits with children in the Dallas area -- bringing messages of hope and caring to them. The Foundation works with other organizations, prevention programs and events that also are involved in activities to protect children. Most recently, the Foundation has begun working with corporations to implement an employee awareness program.

The goal of the Center is to minimize each child's trauma, provide immediate and ongoing treatment and services, and to ensure proper investigation of cases.
