The tournament is held in late April / early May at the Four Seasons Resort and Club Dallas at Las Colinas in Irving, Texas.  in Irving, Texas Irving (pronounced 'er-ving') is a city located in the U.S. state of Texas within Dallas County. According to the 2000 U.S. Census, the city population was 191,615; the 2006 estimate was 201,927 according to the North Central Texas Council of Governments, and 196,084 according to , May 11-14, 2006.

 organization, is sponsoring the Oak Cliff team by supplying the students with golf equipment and access to golf courses. The organization will also give the students a behind-the-scenes tour and tickets to the EDS Byron Nelson Championship tournament, a PGA-sponsored event.

Students practice every Friday morning or afternoon, earn a Physical Education credit, and are led by teacher Fredrick Lawrence. In this inaugural year for the team, 10 students are participating. "None of these students have ever played golf before," said Lawrence. "They're not only learning about golf, but also very important life skills."

On May 9, the Oak Cliff golf team will attend a junior golf clinic held by local golf professionals.
