Dallas/IABC ``Begins Boarding'' for 2004 Bronze Quill Awards Banquet, Oct. 7, at Cavanaugh Flight Museum; Glenn Mitchell of KERA-TV Ch. 13 to Serve as Master of Ceremonies.

DALLAS -- The Dallas chapter of the International Association of Business Communicators (IABC) will recognize professional communicators in the Dallas-Fort Worth area for their professional communications expertise at the annual Bronze Quill Awards banquet, 6:00 p.m to 9:30 p.m. Thursday, Oct. 7, 2004, at the Cavanaugh Flight Museum in Addison, Texas. Winning entries will be on display beginning at 6 p.m. The event registration deadline is Oct. 5.

This year's theme, "The Sky's The Limit," reinforces the importance for creative thinking shown by many Dallas/Fort Worth communicators. Derived from the theme, the 2004 Awards banquet will be hosted at the Cavanaugh Flight Museum, a museum encompassing nearly 50,000 square feet of display area in four hangars containing aircraft spanning history from World War I through Vietnam, artwork, artifact and a gift shop.

"The Bronze Quill Awards banquet is an annual event that showcases the value and professionalism of communicators throughout North Texas," said Shannon Frederick, co-chair for the 2004 Bronze Quill awards. "It's a night of recognition and accolades for those who exemplify the highest standards of integrity and excellence in communications."

Glenn Mitchell, host of "The Glenn Mitchell Show" on KERA-TV Ch. 13/National Public Radio will serve as master of ceremonies and preside over the evening's festivities. Mitchell is a recipient of four Dallas Press Club Katie Awards for Best Interview/Talk Show, covers a variety of national, state, and local political issues, as well as science, the arts, sports, contemporary culture, language, international and military affairs, history, health and the media. His show, entitled "Anything You Ever Wanted to Know" runs daily from noon to 2 p.m. Central.

For more than 25 years, IABC's Bronze Quill Awards program has been the hallmark of excellence in business communication. From the many entries submitted throughout the years, only the most outstanding communicators have been honored with this coveted award. The Bronze Quill Awards program is an annual competition that offers professional communicators an opportunity to have their work evaluated by expert judges, and many of the judges have themselves been recognized for excellence in communication. Communicators submit all types of project, from strategic public relations programs and Web initiatives to writing, design and employee communications campaigns. A number of established communicators serve as independent judges to review and rate the submitted work.
