inside nine minutes saw Blyth Spartans romp to a 6-0 win over Worcester City, who played all but six minutes of the game with 10 men.

The win, Blyth's biggest in the Conference North, has ensured they will avoid relegation - unless they lose their last three games and Hucknall win their last two by a sizeable margin.

It is a highly unlikely scenario and Blyth, whose goal difference is 15 better than Hucknall, can now look forward to the Northumberland Senior Cup final against Newcastle United Reserves and start preparing for next season.

Dale had already fired Blyth ahead when City striker Craig Wilding was red-carded after a clash off the ball with home defender Gary Brown This page is on the American footballer. By the time 15 minutes was on the clock Dale had claimed his first Conference North hat-trick and the Spartans had found the net on four occasions.

It was an incredible passage of play from a side without the services of five players, and who had been one of the league's lowest scorers for most of the season.

Teenage front man Ged Dalton had been Blyth's other first-half marksman, Steve Birks and Danny Robinson adding two more after the break.

Dunn said: "It was an excellent all-round performance and, while Robbie Dale scored a quick hat-trick, I would not like to pick out individuals.

"The sending off helped, but we made a great start.

"Our home form has been awful this season and we have struggled to break sides down at Croft Park Croft Park is a football stadium in Blyth, Northumberland. "However, we have played very well to beat champions Kettering Town and Worcester in our last two games on home soil and we are now safe.

"It has been a tough old season, but we have survived and it was an easy game against Worcester - and you do not have many of them in the Conference North."

Dale's hat-trick was his first at Conference level and he has now replaced midfield man Chris McCabe as the Spartans' leading scorer.

Dunn added: "Robbie is hard to handle on days like this.

"We have been waiting for this to happen for some time, but the whole side worked exceptionally hard."
