Dalbo Plant to Make Grated Parmesan Cheese
"Land O'Lakes and Rochester Cheese have had a long term business relationship and we're excited about the opportunity to combine our production and marketing strengths to provide customers with a very high quality product," said Gary Vanic, vice president of Land O'Lakes Products Division and a member of the board of governors for Isanti Foods.
The facility, which was formerly a cheese plant, has been totally refurbished and now includes cheese grinding, blending and drying equipment as well as a high-speed packaging and labeling line and a shipping department. When fully operational the plant will employ about 20 people and will produce several million pounds of grated parmesan annually.
"It is our intention to be packaging more than a dozen retail brands of parmesan cheese within 30 days time and also to be serving a number of institutional customers as well," said Tom Ferris, president of Rochester Cheese and also a member of the Isanti Foods board of governors.
Land O'Lakes will supply the new business with parmesan cheese to be ground, dried and packaged in the familiar cans found in grocery stores.
