Summary: Tibetan spiritual leader the Dalai Lama Dalai Lama (dä`lī lä`mə) [Tibetan,=oceanic teacher], title of the leader of Tibetan Buddhism. Believed like his predecessors to be the incarnation of the Bodhisattva Avalokiteshvara, the 14th Dalai Lama, Tenzin Gyatso, 1935–,  gave discourses in centuries old Buddhist teachings to thousands of followers gathered from across the globe in Dharamsala on Wednesday.

Dharamsala, March 11 (ANI): Tibetan spiritual leader the Dalai Lama gave discourses in centuries old Buddhist teachings to thousands of followers gathered from across the globe in Dharamsala on Wednesday. Hundreds of maroon maroon, term for a fugitive slave in the 17th and 18th cent. in the West Indies and Guiana, or for a descendant of such slaves. They were called marron by the French and cimarrón by the Spanish.  robed monks, nuns, and foreign disciples listened transfixed as the 1979 Nobel peace laureate mixed anecdotes from Buddha's life along with the teachings. This is a ritual that the Dalai Lama has been following for past several decades a discourse in Buddhist teachings just two weeks after the start of their new year.
