Daktronics to Provide Integrated Display System for New Arena At the University of South Carolina.

Daktronics, Inc. (Nasdaq:DAKT) of Brookings, S.D., will design, manufacture and install an integrated video, scoring, information and advertising display system for the new basketball and multi-use arena at the University of South Carolina

Daktronics has contracted with Action Sports Media Sports Media, Inc. (SMI) is a Sports Media and Marketing company that produces radio and television programming as well as representing professional athletes. 2002 Cowboys Live - Hosted by Dallas Cowboys Joey Galloway  to provide this new system at a price tag of approximately $2 million, with installation scheduled for the fall of 2002. Action Sports Media secured the rights to market University of South Carolina athletics and the new basketball arena, and as a part of their 15-year contract with the university, to provide the scoreboard, video and related equipment for the new arena.

The centerpiece of the display system will be a large, four-sided, center-hung scoreboard, with each side measuring approximately 21 feet high and 27 feet wide. Each face includes a ProStar(R) VideoPlus screen measuring approximately 8'6" high by 12'0" wide, a ProAd(R) digital advertising and information display, game clock, programmable team name displays, home and guest scores, and statistics displays for the home and visiting teams. Each ProStar(R) display will be comprised of red, green and blue LED (light emitting diode See LED. ) pixels, 192 pixels high by 336 pixels wide (pixels on 12 mm center to center spacing).
