Daktronics and Servtrotech Announce Order for Electronic Displays From the Ministry of Transportation of Quebec.

Any of three unmanned U.S. experimental satellites. Vanguard I (1958), the second U.S. satellite placed in orbit around Earth (after Explorer 1), was a tiny 3.25-lb (1.47-kg) sphere with two radio transmitters.

The proven Vanguard displays will give motorists around Montreal access to accurate and timely traffic information and road conditions."

The first of the 26 displays is scheduled for installation in September of 2002, with installation of an average of two displays each month for the following year. Servtrotech will supervise the installation and provide maintenance of the display system. Twenty-one of the displays will present information with four lines of 18" characters. The remaining five displays will show four lines of information with 12" characters. All displays will use LED (light emitting diode See LED. ) technology, and will have specially-designed walk-in cabinets for ease of service. The displays will be controlled from a central control system and will have the capability to display messages in both French and English.
