BROOKINGS, S.D.--(BUSINESS WIRE)--April 15, 2004

Daktronics, Inc. (Nasdaq:DAKT) of Brookings, S.D., today announced the debut of another extension to its successful ProStar(R) VideoPlus product line. The Company is unveiling its new, high-resolution ProStar(R) full-color, light emitting diode See LED.  (LED) display with picture elements (pixels) on 3 millimeter (0.1181 inch) center-to-center spacing at the 2004 International Sign Assocation (ISA) Expo and the 2004 National Association of Broadcasters (NAB) spring show this month.

"In the large screen video display industry, there is a constant demand for tighter resolution displays," said Daktronics video products manager Reece Kurtenbach. "The addition of the 3 millimeter pixel pitch See dot pitch.  allows Daktronics to meet customers' high-resolution video display requests."

Continuing the ProStar(R) product line's reputation for excellence, the new pixel pitch uses surface-mount device (SMD (1) (Storage Module Device) A high-performance hard disk interface used with minis and mainframes that transfers data in the 1-4 MBytes/sec range (SMD-E provides highest rate). By combining red, green and blue light, ProStar(R) technology creates images in up to 4.3 trillion colors. The 3 millimeter pitch displays join a large family of other ProStar(R) displays, including 6, 10, 12, 16.5, 20, 23, 34, 46 and 89 millimeter pixel pitch displays.

Using a sophisticated modular design In the context of systems engineering, modular design — or "modularity in design" — is an approach aiming to subdivide a system into smaller parts (modules) that can be independently created and then used in different systems to drive multiple functionalities. , ProStar(R) displays may be constructed to any size and aspect ratio. The industry-proven Venus(R) 7000 controller and V-Link(R) video processor allow ProStar(R) displays to run high-definition (HD) content and to provide the sharpest, clearest image in the industry.

Daktronics began manufacturing large screen, full-color, LED video displays in 1997.
