Daktronics To Provide Multi-Million Dollar Display System Upgrade For The Ballpark at Arlington and Texas Rangers.

BROOKINGS, S.D.--(BUSINESS WIRE)--Feb. 11, 2003

Daktronics, Inc. (Nasdaq:DAKT) announced today that it will provide a new video display and additional LED (light emitting diode See LED. ) displays for The Ballpark in Arlington, the home of the Texas Rangers Texas Rangers, mounted fighting force organized (1835) during the Texas Revolution. During the republic they became established as the guardians of the Texas frontier, particularly against Native Americans.  in Arlington, Texas Arlington is a city in Tarrant County, Texas (USA) within the Dallas-Fort Worth-Arlington metropolitan area. According to a U.S Census Bureau release, as of July 1, 2006 Arlington has an estimated population of 367,197. . Installation of the new equipment is scheduled to be substantially complete in time for the Rangers' 2003 home opener on April 4.

The new LED display will measure approximately 17 feet high by 76 feet wide (72 pixels high by 336 pixels wide with pixels on 68 mm spacing) and will be used primarily to present game in progress information, including line scores, lineups, the pitch count and statistics.

The existing incandescent display in left center field will also be upgraded to LED technology. The new amber LED display will measure approximately 26 feet high by 29 feet wide (112 pixels high by 128 pixels wide with pixels on 68 mm spacing) and will be used to show statistics and other information along with entertaining graphics and animation.

Two additional LED displays will be added to an existing marquee display outside the ballpark. Each display will measure approximately four feet high by 42 feet wide (32 pixels high by 368 pixels wide with pixels on 34 mm spacing). These displays will promote upcoming Ranger games and present other information to those who pass by on Interstate in·ter·state

The new displays in the ballpark will be operated with the proven Daktronics Venus(R) 7000 control system and V-Link(R) video processors. The contract between Daktronics and the Texas Rangers also includes on-site installation responsibility.
