Daktronics Organizes Business to Better Serve its Customers and Shareholders.

BROOKINGS, S.D. -- Daktronics (NASDAQ:DAKT) today announced the realignment of the company into five business units to better serve its growing customer base and to improve efficiency and financial performance. The changes took effect at the start of fiscal year 2008. The five business units are Commercial, Small Sports Venues, Live Events, Transportation and International.

"We've discussed our overall business in the past in terms of three main markets including sports, commercial and transportation," said Jim Morgan, President and CEO of Daktronics. "We are evolving now into focused business units to align our resources more closely to our markets. This improved organizational structure will provide greater flexibility and accountability within the major parts of our business. Each group is headed by a Vice President with a proven track record in the company, who will be responsible for the performance of the unit. Over the years we've developed the industry-leading skills and resources needed to serve our markets, including product development, project engineering, manufacturing, and customer service. These areas were previously separate departments informally connected to the markets. The business unit alignment allows us to leverage the numerous operational improvements and investments we have made in these areas over the past two years to better serve our customers while driving improved operating margins. We have been working toward this structure over the past year and we expect the transition to be relatively seamless."

The Commercial and Transportation business units will be headed by Brad Wiemann. Wiemann holds a masters degree in electrical and computer engineering from the University of Iowa and a Bachelor of Science degree in electrical engineering from South Dakota State University. He began work at Daktronics in 1993 after spending a number of years with Rockwell International where he was involved in flight control systems. Since late 2004, Wiemann has managed all the marketing, sales and engineering within these two areas. The Commercial group will continue to focus on commercial applications of its products and services, including the billboard industry, national accounts, gaming, spectaculars, and supporting and expanding its network of resellers for retail applications. The focus of the transportation business unit is serving state departments of transportation, airports and airlines, parking facilities, and other agencies and organizations in the transportation industry.

The Small Sports Venue Business unit is led by Dan Bierschbach. Bierschbach earned his bachelor's degree in electrical engineering from South Dakota State University and has been employed by Daktronics since 1984. The Small Sports Venue Business unit is focused on elementary, junior high and high schools, small colleges, and park and recreation departments. Previously Bierschbach managed our customer service operations, sports products engineering and our recently acquired sports sound and hoist businesses.

The Live Events business unit is headed by Reece Kurtenbach. Kurtenbach earned his bachelor's degree in electrical engineering from South Dakota State University and began his employment at Daktronics in 1991. This business unit provides sophisticated display systems for professional sports teams and facilities, colleges and universities, motor sports venues, pari-mutuel racing venues, and rental and staging companies. Mr. Kurtenbach will also head up the International business unit which encompasses sales and service for all international opportunities, excluding Canada which the company treats as part of its domestic business for operational purposes.

The company has also named Seth Hansen as its Vice President of Information Systems and Technology. Hansen, formerly the Vice President of Sports Systems, graduated from South Dakota State University with a bachelors and a masters degree in electrical engineering. Previously Mr. Hansen was responsible for all international business and the sports applications group which managed installations of sophisticated sports systems. He also has played a key role in growing and developing our success in Olympic Games, and personally managed a number of our Olympic Games projects. He takes over this area from Carla Gatzke, who previously was responsible for both IT and human resources, and will continue on as Vice President of Human Resources.
