Dainippon Sumitomo Pharma Kicks off Operations.


Tokyo Tokyo (tō`kēō), city (1990 pop. 8,163,573), capital of Japan and of Tokyo prefecture, E central Honshu, at the head of Tokyo Bay. , Japan, Oct 3, 2005 - (JCNN JCNN Japan Corporate News Network ) - Dainippon Sumitomo Pharma, a merged company of Dainippon Pharmaceutical and Sumitomo Pharmaceuticals, has launched its full-scale operations on October 1. The new company, which is headquartered in Osaka, has a capital of 22.4 billion yen and 5,150 employees on a non-consolidated base.

In a medium- and long-perspective, it aims to consolidate its presence in the field of diabetes and central nervous system disorders Nervous system disorders

A satisfactory classification of diseases of the nervous system should include not only the type of reaction (congenital malformation, infection, trauma, neoplasm, vascular diseases, and degenerative, metabolic, toxic, or deficiency
. The new company is the fifth-largest pharmaceutical company in Japan.
