Fisher offered the following example of VALEX's use at DaimlerChrysler: The company is currently running a Web campaign to promote its new Chrysler PT Cruiser, scheduled for availability in Spring 2000.

The Chrysler brand has created an interactive presentation at http://www.chryslercars.com/, which allows visitors to sign up to receive email updates on the car's availability and features. VALEX enables DaimlerChrysler to manage these requests and communicate with prospects regularly via email to create a dialogue and maintain their interest.

"VALEX is helping us maintain a dialogue with thousands of potential PT Cruiser buyers, keeping them involved in the car's launch," said Fisher. "Once the car becomes available, VALEX will enable us to track which prospects become owners. We'll be able to quantify the success of the Web campaign."

Danielle Alsup, Vice President of Database Marketing for Ross Roy Communications, noted that offline mass marketing is no longer enough.

"There is a lot of clutter in the marketplace, and companies are challenged to break through the noise," said Alsup. "Personalized customer communications are the way to do that. After evaluating a number of vendors, we determined that Exchange Applications would provide the best solution for DaimlerChrysler."

"By implementing Exchange Applications' customer communications solution, DaimlerChrysler is demonstrating its commitment to soliciting customer input, determining their needs and interests, and updating them regularly on products that meet those needs," noted Exchange Applications' CEO (1) (Chief Executive Officer) The highest individual in command of an organization.
