Daily News to relocate to 450 West 33rd St.


The New Daily News will move its Manhattan corporate headquarters and editorial offices to a West Side office building owned by John Hancock Mutual Life Insurance Company.

Morning daily tabloid newspaper published in New York City. It was founded in 1919 by Joseph Medill Patterson and his cousin Robert McCormick as a subsidiary of the Tribune Co. of Chicago. The first successful tabloid-format newspaper in the U.S.
 has entered into a long-term lease for of office space at 450 West 33rd Street, a 16-story, 1.5 million square-foot building located two blocks from Penn Station. The lease, totaling 120,000 square feet, was arranged by the Edward S. Gordon Company (ESG ESG Enterprise Strategy Group (Veritas)

The New York Daily News was represented by ESG managing directors Ivan W. Hillman Hillman was a famous British automobile marque, manufactured by the Rootes Group. It was based in Ryton-on-Dunsmore, near Coventry, England, from 1907 to 1976. Before 1907 the company had built bicycles.  and Stuart I. Schiff and Robert Selsam of Boston Properties. John Hancock was represented by an ESG team spearheaded by David W. Levinson, executive managing director, Richard Karson, managing director, Gerald Picco and Gordon Property Group, ESG's asset management and owner representation division.

The attractive features of 450 West 33rd Street include 100,000 square-foot floor-plates, an infrastructure capable of accommodating the most advanced technical requirements, and convenient access to a variety of mass transit options.

The property has served primarily as a high-tech back office facility for the financial services industry. But since ESG took over the agency in May, the leasing team has worked to position 450 West 33rd Street as an attractive location alternative for media and entertainment companies - as well as those in financial services - whose telecommunications and computer needs have grown increasingly sophisticated.

The building's above-standard technical features include 12 watts of electricity per square foot, 16-foot ceiling heights and floor load capacity ranging from 100 lbs. to 250 lbs. per square foot.
