Hurricane Floyd was the sixth named storm, fourth hurricane, and third major hurricane in the 1999 Atlantic hurricane season.

In anticipation of potential hurricane activity, RMS relocated its event response team to the conference site at Lake Tahoe. The team monitored the storm's progress, used RMS models to generate estimates of insured losses as the storm evolved, and provided conference attendees and other clients with daily briefings and event bulletins.

This is ninth consecutive year RMS has hosted this conference, which has grown to be the largest industry event of its kind in the world.
