Intrathecal 
 Baclofen therapy products are now listed for national health insurance reimbursement. One of them is the SynchroMed infusion system that comprises of the SynchroMed EL pump and the InDura catheter.

Intrathecal Gabalon (baclofen) and the SynchroMed system are used to treat severe spasticity spasticity /spas·tic·i·ty/ (spas-tis´i-te) the state of being spastic; see spastic (2).

 in patients if conventional treatments don't. The system involves a surgically implanted pump that automatically delivers baclofen directly to the spinal cord spinal cord, the part of the nervous system occupying the hollow interior (vertebral canal) of the series of vertebrae that form the spinal column, technically known as the vertebral column.  when needed.

Dosages delivered can be individually tailored are generally less than if taken orally. The SynchroMed system markedly reduces severe spasticity.

SynchroMed infusion and Intrathecal Gabalong have been used to treat some 50,000 patients worldwide.
