Daddy Day, Daughter Day.This is a true-life story about divorce told from both a father's and a daughter's point of view. Larry King is a famous TV and radio talk-show host. Chaia is his grown-up daughter. They wrote this book together. The story takes place when Chaia was a little girl. Her parents are divorced, and she lives with her mother. Dad comes by regularly in his convertible to see Chaia. The book describes a typical daddy-daughter day outing. First it's a trip to the park, then to "Monkey Jungle" (where Booloo the gorilla is not a very gracious host). Afterwards, father and daughter go to the movies and out to dinner. And even though they're at a fancy restaurant, Chaia gets to order her favorite meal: a fast-food hamburger and french fries! This story is both happy and, at times, a little sad. The book's final message comes from Chaia who says, "I know now that divorce can bring good times as well as bad, and that having two parents who love you, even if they don't live together, is the greatest gift of all." |
