Aklad Ali, 40, of Ellesmere Road Ellesmere Road is a major east-west road in the Scarborough part of Toronto, Ontario, Canada. When they quizzed embarrassed Ali, he claimed he had been looking for somewhere to pull over as he needed to adjust his seat after taking his car to be cleaned. But at Birmingham Magistrates' Court, he pleaded guilty to soliciting a woman for sex.

, prosecuting, said: "Police officers were in the vicinity having conducted unrelated enquiries.

"It appeared to the officers the woman had not tried to get the defendant's attention until he drove up.

"A brief conversation took place where he offered her money for sex. When the officers spoke to her she said she was confused at first when the man said 'business, business', but then realised he thought she was a prostitute."

Malcolm Faber, defending, said: "Mr Ali is of previous good character and has pleaded guilty at the first possible opportunity.

"He was coming back from the car wash and does not know what came over him."

Ali was given a pounds 100 fine by magistrates, ordered to pay pounds 85 costs and a pounds 15 victim surcharge.
