An inquest into his death at Aberdare Coroner's Court heard that Mr Jones' body was found in a wooded area behind the Oddfellows Arms in Betws, Bridgend, on June 16, last year. Mr Jones, a self-employed tiler, of Heol Glannant, Betws, told his former partner Stacy Lewis he was "going to top himself" after finding out she was seeing someone else. The couple, who went to school at Ynysawdre Comprehensive, had lived together at Pen-y-Mynydd before Mr Jones moved out early last year. Miss Lewis, who described their relationship as "on-off", told the hearing yesterday he had returned in the evening to collect his tools from the shed. "We were both having a drink and it was the first time we had chatted for a while," she said. "It was really nice and we were sitting there amicably. He said he had got over me and he had been seeing girls from Aberkenfig and Maesteg. He asked if I was seeing anybody. I said I was going out with someone on Friday and his mood changed. "He was holding the back door saying he loved me, then he said he was going to top himself." Later that week, Mr Jones visited unannounced at 6am. "Carwyn came into the house while we were sleeping and he was standing in the bedroom," said Miss Lewis. "He was just shouting and ranting Ranting See also Anger, Exasperation, Irascibility. The father-of-one was said to be upset he had not received a Father's Day card. Miss Lewis said he was ringing her from 8am to 4pm the following day, June 16, asking about Carys. Later that night, Miss Lewis came home after going out for food to find someone had made their way inside. Nothing had been taken, but a picture of the couple and Carys on her christening day had been placed face down on a table. Hours later, at 7.45pm, the body was found hanging from a tree by a man living in the village. Pathologist Dr Philip Brumwell said it was possible intoxication intoxication, condition of body tissue affected by a poisonous substance.
