Dacom Selects Acme Packet Session Border Controllers for its NGN; Acme Packet Enables Secure, High-Quality Hosted IP Services for Korean Tier One Service Provider.


BURLINGTON, Mass. -- Acme Packet(R) announced today that Dacom, the second largest long-distance service provider in Korea, is deploying the Net-Net(R) session border controllers A Session Border Controller is a device used in some VoIP networks to exert control over the signaling and usually also the media streams involved in setting up, conducting, and tearing down calls.  in its national, VoIP network that connects residential and business customers all over Korea. The Net-Net products are being integrated with the Dacom's Next Generation IP Softswitch platform to offer more enhanced services.

The deployment of Acme Packet's session border controllers, to be performed by CommVerge Solutions Korea, a network integration partner of Acme Packet in Korea, is underway, with a target to cover Seoul and most major cities in Korea to offer VoIP and enhanced services in the next couple of years.
