DZian owners add art to Wine Expo.

Wine enthusiasts are gearing up for the annual Boston Wine Expo, Feb. 8-10 in the Seaport World Trade Center in Boston.

The Grand Tasting showcases more than 450 international and domestic wineries from 13 countries pouring more than 1,800 different wines. It's mind-boggling to think about all the seminars and cooking demos up for grabs. Celebrity chefs In its strictest sense, a celebrity chef is a someone who has become well-known for his/her cooking. The first historical personality that fits this description is Martino da Como but in practical terms the term grew in popularity during the 1990s.  will be everywhere!

Kickoff to the celebration will be Jazzed About Wine, 7 to 10 p.m. Feb. 8 in the Grand Ballroom of the Seaport Hotel. The night will feature premium wines that retail for $65 a pop and up, hors d'oeuvres and live jazz. Special guest will be Thomas Arvid, reportedly Wine Country's most admired and recognized artist.

Tickets for Jazzed About Wine are $215 per person. A portion of the proceeds will benefit the Anthony Spinazzola Culinary Apprenticeship Program.

David S. Papazian and his wife, Gina M. Papazian, owners of DZian Gallery, 65 Water St., Worcester, have 15 of Arvid's paintings in the gallery. The couple, who are heading to the expo for the first time, will exhibit Arvid's paintings at their booth. DZian is the artist's only Massachusetts contact, according to according to

The couple also will be with Arvid during his special appearances. The schedule includes live painting by the artist at Jazzed About Wine, book signings and a special reception and dinner in his honor, Feb. 7, in Fleming's Prime Steakhouse and Wine Bar in Boston. The artist's paintings are exclusive to Fleming's restaurants throughout the country, according to David Papazian.

Fiddlers' Green, Hibernian Cultural Center, 19 Temple St., Worcester, will offer a special pre-theater menu prior to the U.S. premiere of Marc P. Smith's play, "A Journey to Kreisau."

The play will be presented at 8 p.m. Feb. 18-20 at the cultural center.

Rovezzi's Ristorante lists its winter/spring wine dinners.

The schedule is Feb. 25, April 7 and May 19. All wine dinners will take place at the Rovezzi's, 108 Grove St., Worcester. Other Rovezzi's are in Rutland and Sturbridge.
