DYNATEC INTERNATIONAL INC. SETTLES PATENT INFRINGEMENT LAWSUIT; COMPANY RETAINS LONG-TERM RETAIL MARKETING RIGHTS TO TWISSTOP PRODUCT

SALT LAKE CITY, Feb. 9 /PRNewswire/ -- Dynatec International Inc. (NASDAQ: DYNX) announced today that a settlement has been reached in its patent infringement litigation between Recoton Corp. (NASDAQ-NMS: RCOT) and Dynatec's wholly owned subsidiary, Arnco Marketing Ltd. This patent litigation was regarding the rotatable telephone connector known as "Twisstop."
Under terms of the settlement, each of the parties agreed to forego collection of any monetary judgment and to dismiss all appeals. In addition, Recoton has agreed to add the "Softalk" and "Mini Softalk" products to its telephone accessories line. While Dynatec has agreed to market the in-line telephone connector made by Recoton, the marketing of the Recoton in-line telephone connector will be in addition to the continued marketing by Dynatec of the "Twisstop" rotatable telephone connector product. Dynatec retains the rights to market the Twisstop to the same markets it was previously servicing. Such marketing rights continue into the next decade and until the expiration of all underlying patents.
Dynatec will now be purchasing the Twisstop product from Recoton at an increased price. The company believes that the Twisstop product will continue to be a profitable product for the company and anticipates offsetting any decrease in Twisstop product profits by profit generated from Recoton's sales of the Softalk and Mini Softalk products.
