DYKE THE HIGH ROAD; RECORD EXCLUSIVE: Lesbian romp steams up Glendarroch.
Pig farmer's daughter Kitty and student Tina are caught in a passionate clinch.
The scenes are enough to make Mrs Mack's hair stand on end.
Described by a Scottish Television insider as a "deep kiss", it is Glendarroch's first hint of lesbian lust. And Sarah Gudgeon and Amanda Beveridge, who play Kitty and Tina, could soon rival Brookside's Beth, played by Anna Friel, as gay icons.
The insider added: "It begins with a peck on the lips between Kitty and Tina on the couch - and ends with them going for the full monty."
The kiss will be the explosive end to a heated argument between the girls.
Tina has been trying to get Kitty to leave her father Lachie's pig farm after an unexpected visit from her ex-flatmate.
But Lachie is convinced the spirited Kitty is a good influence on his daughter and has asked her to stay.
The truth is, the girls were more than just flatmates.
The move is part of High Road producer Liz Lake's efforts to spice up life in sleepy Glendarroch.
It follows recent stormy storylines including the killing of Gary - played by Crow Road heartthrob Joe McFadden - and the shooting of estate owner Sam Hagan by gamekeeper Sneddon.
High Road's Amanda has been caught in another woman's arms before - when she played Prince Charming in panto.
But for 26-year-old Sarah, the kiss is likely to be her biggest challenge yet. She only joined the soap last year.
Telly bosses are hoping the lesbian lipsmacker will top viewing ratings for Gary's murder last year.
Other British soaps have beaten High Road to gay storylines.
Emmerdale's resident lesbian - vet Zoe Tate - has been out of the closet for a couple of years.
But in a shock plot in the ITV soap she has taken straight-laced mum- of-three Becky Cairns as her lover.
BBC1's EastEnders had a gay kiss between Tony Hills and lover Simon in 1996, sparking a flood of complaints.
But the most famous lesbian kiss in a soap remains the smooch involving Brookside's Beth in 1995.
