The CAST for Kids events team volunteers with disabled and disadvantaged youth for a special day of outdoor adventure. Youth participating will enjoy a day of fishing, prizes, activities, and special entertainment provided by staff members of state agencies, CAST members, and volunteers from the community. The young anglers will be educated about boating safety, angler ethics and natural resources. In 2004, DWR, DPR, DBW and DFG signed a Memorandum of Agreement A memorandum of agreement (MOA) or cooperative agreement is a document written between parties to cooperatively work together on an agreed upon project or meet an agreed upon objective. The purpose of an MOA is to have a written understanding of the agreement between parties. to provide a framework to create a partnership between the CAST Foundation and the State of California. The goal of this partnership is for the state to support the CAST program, and expand opportunities for disadvantaged and disabled youth to use and enjoy public land and water. The Department of Water Resources operates and maintains the State Water Project, provides dam safety and flood control and inspection services, assists local water districts in water management and water conservation planning, and plans for future statewide water needs. |
