DWP manager to head American Public Power Association.


LOS ANGELES--(BUSINESS WIRE)--June 27, 1995--Eldon A. Cotton, assistant general manager -- Power for the Los Angeles Department of Water and Power The Los Angeles Department of Water and Power (LADWP) is the largest municipal utility in the United States, serving 3.9 million residents in 2006. It was founded in 1902 to deliver water and electricity supplies to residents and businesses in Los Angeles. , will be named president of the American Public Power Association (APPA) on Wednesday at the organization's annual conference in Seattle.

APPA represents 1,750 publicly owned electric utilities across the country and provides services for the participating agencies in the areas of government relations, engineering and operations, accounting and finance, energy research and development, management, customer relations and public communications.

DWP was one of the founding members of APPA in 1940 and has since played a major role in helping the national organization to grow in terms of size and influence. Other DWP executives who have served as APPA presidents include: Ezra F. Scattergood, 1947; Samuel E. Morris, 1949; William S. Peterson, 1956; and Ivan L. Bateman, 1961.
