DWP issues request for proposals for electric shuttle bus system in harbor.


LOS ANGELES--(BUSINESS WIRE)--Aug. 8, 1995--The Los Angeles Department of Water and Power The Los Angeles Department of Water and Power (LADWP) is the largest municipal utility in the United States, serving 3.9 million residents in 2006. It was founded in 1902 to deliver water and electricity supplies to residents and businesses in Los Angeles.  is soliciting proposals for the operation and maintenance of a battery-powered electric shuttle bus system in the Los Angeles Los Angeles (lôs ăn`jələs, lŏs, ăn`jəlēz'), city (1990 pop. 3,485,398), seat of Los Angeles co., S Calif.; inc. 1850.  Harbor area The Harbor Area is the area along the Port of Los Angeles. The selected contractor will be responsible for operation of the three trolleys in the system in addition to daily vehicle inspections, battery charging and maintenance, collection of passenger fares and other activities associated with the success of the trolley trolley: see streetcar.  program.

In operation since November 1992, the trolley system is a zero- emission public transit technology sponsored by the DWP DWP Department of Work and Pensions (UK)

The trolley operates daily from 10 a.m. to 6 p.m. along a six- mile route with a round trip time of 30 minutes and a cost of 25 cents per ride. Stops along the way include the World Cruise Center, downtown San Pedro and Ports O'Call Village.
