That is the amount paid to the head of the Sacramento Municipal Utility District, which is one-fourth the size of the DWP DWP Department of Work and Pensions (UK)

``I believe I can provide additional leadership and contributions to both the city and DWP,'' he wrote. ``However, I now find myself frustrated frus·trate

In a separate letter to the Board of Water and Power Commissioners last week, McCarley said he is weighing other options, which he said included retirement.

McCarley, 56, said in an interview that he has received offers for other jobs, which he would not identify, and noted that he has been eligible to retire from city service for a year.

``I sent a notice to the commission that I'm thinking about my options,'' he said. ``I could have retired over a year ago.''

``I haven't made any decisions about anything,'' he added. ``I could leave at any time. Should I decide to leave there would have to be a transition.''

McCarley's action comes in the wake of the City Council's decision to boost the pay of Chief Legislative Analyst Ron Deaton by $20,000 a year - to $175,000 - to keep him from becoming Los Angeles Los Angeles (lôs ăn`jələs, lŏs, ăn`jəlēz'), city (1990 pop. 3,485,398), seat of Los Angeles co., S Calif.; inc. 1850.  County's chief administrative officer A chief administrative officer (CAO) is responsible for administrative management of private, public or governmental corporations. The CAO is one of the highest ranking members of an organization, managing daily operations and usually reporting directly to the chief executive .

McCarley used to hold Deaton's job. He took over head of the city agency two years ago after serving as Mayor Richard Riordan's chief of staff.

The possible departure of McCarley comes in the wake of the resignation of DWP Board President Dennis Tito Dennis Anthony Tito (born August 8, 1940 in Queens, New York) is a United States multimillionaire who gained celebrity status by becoming the first space tourist to pay for his own ticket, although he himself opposes being called "tourist" and asks to be called an "independent  and Deputy Mayor Michael Keeley, who served as Riordan's liaison to the DWP.

``If McCarley left it would be a disaster for the department,'' said Commissioner Marcia Volpert. ``It will create an enormous void.''
