DWJ Television grand prize winner.

RIDGEWOOD, N.J.--(BUSINESS WIRE)--July 19, 1995--DWJ Television was awarded Grand Prize in the Video News Release Category of the 6th Annual Questar Awards of its "Shop with a Cop" news package, produced for Kmart Corp.

"Shop with a Cop" featured San Diego police and Kmart volunteers who raised enough money to give 320 disadvantaged kids $100 each in spending money for Christmas. Each child was paired up with a cop for an afternoon shopping spree--the focus of the piece. San Diego Charger cheerleaders, the K-9 cops, skydivers and rollerblade experts helped round out the news feature. Interaction between the kids and the cops was the highlight, as they shared breakfast, shopping and new-found friendships. The VNR also received a Gold Award.

The Questar competition drew nearly 300 entries from over sixteen countries. Judges represented creative directors, broadcast managers, producers, directors, marketing coordinators, production managers, public relations managers and presidents of production houses.

The awards, given by the International Academy of Communications Arts and Sciences (IACAS) are presented in recognition of excellence and innovation in broadcast and corporate video. The Questar Award symbolizes the creative energy that is transformed by the craft, innovation, and skill into the excellence of the video medium.
