DWJ Television Wins Five Telly Awards.

RIDGEWOOD, N.J.--(BUSINESS WIRE)--Feb. 9, 2001

DWJ DWJ Diana Wynne Jones (Fantasy author)  Television announced today that it has won five Telly Awards According to the web site, the Telly Awards "recognize distinction in creative work," honoring outstanding local and regional television commercials and productions, as well as non-broadcast video productions. The Telly Awards were founded in 1978 by David E.  in the 22nd Annual Telly Awards Competition.

The Silver Telly, the competition's highest honor, was awarded to three DWJ projects: a video promoting National Safe Boating Week; an instructional video produced for The GLOBE Program; and a longform video on NJ TRANSIT's new Hudson-Bergen Light Rail system.

The National Safe Boating Week video news release, produced for Porter Novelli's Washington, D.C., office and the National Safe Boating Council, featured tips on boating safety, information on buying life jackets, and colorful shots of campaign "spokesboat" Theodore Tugboat Theodore Tugboat is a television show for children about a little tugboat, his friends, and their adventures in the Big Harbor. DWJ's winning science video, which teaches students and teachers how to measure water pH levels, is one of 28 videos GLOBE (Global Learning and Observations to Benefit the Environment) contracted DWJ to produce. The GLOBE Program, funded in part by the National Oceanic and Atmospheric Administration Noun 1. National Oceanic and Atmospheric Administration - an agency in the Department of Commerce that maps the oceans and conserves their living resources; predicts changes to the earth's environment; provides weather reports and forecasts floods and hurricanes and , is an environmental science and education program that links students, teachers and scientists around the world. Data gathered by participants in the program can then be accessed through GLOBE's Web site at www.globe.gov.

"These videos stand out because they teach precise scientific activities and concepts while still being enjoyable and easy to watch," said Gerri Freid Kramer, senior producer and account executive, DWJ Television. "What's really wonderful, though, is how they showcase the enthusiasm and ability of real GLOBE students at work. That's both motivating and reassuring to teachers who may be wary about adding something new to their curriculum," she added.

Hank Roden, GLOBE's assistant director for outreach, believes the videos are a powerful teaching aide. "Teachers tell us the videos are a tremendous help in their and their students' understanding of the 'how'of science research and inquiry," he noted.

Rounding out DWJ's list of Silver Telly winners was "Hudson-Bergen Light Rail: Light Years Ahead," a longform video commissioned by NJ TRANSIT. The nine-minute video describes a twenty-one mile, $1.1 billion state-of-the-art light rail system whose first phase became operational in April 2000.

"DWJ helped us tell the unique story of the Hudson-Bergen Light Rail to the mass transportation industry, legislators and other key influencers in New Jersey, Washington and throughout the country," said Jeffrey Antman, NJ TRANSIT Director of Creative Services. "The light rail represents an innovative public-private partnership effort which will serve as a model for other transit properties nationwide. DWJ's video was central to helping NJ TRANSIT merchandise our success," he added.

Two other DWJ video entries earned Bronze Telly awards. "The Jade Diary," a twenty-minute video, documented the installation of ExxonMobil's Jade platform, the first fixed oil platform off the coast of Equatorial Guinea in Africa. And DWJ was pleased that a pro bono Short for pro bono publico [Latin, For the public good]. The designation given to the free legal work done by an attorney for indigent clients and religious, charitable, and other nonprofit entities.  video produced for Paterson, New Jersey's Habitat for Humanity Habitat for Humanity, nonprofit ecumenical Christian organization that enables low-income people to own affordable, livable housing. Headquartered in Americus, Ga., it was founded in 1976 by businessman Millard Fuller and his wife.  won a Bronze Telly in the Fund Raising category. The thirteen-minute video marked the 15th anniversary of the Paterson chapter's founding and the dedication of its 100th house.

The Telly Awards Competition, founded in 1980, gives recognition to outstanding film and video productions as well as local, regional and cable TV commercials and programs.
