DVIRC Receives $45,000 Grant for Leadership Role in Regional STEM Education.

PHILADELPHIA -- The Delaware Valley The Delaware Valley is the name of the metropolitan area centered on the city of Philadelphia in the United States. The region is named for the Delaware River which flows through it.  Industrial Resource Center (DVIRC DVIRC Delaware Valley Industrial Resource Center (Philadelphia)

The funding - supporting DVIRC's Talent Development - will serve to coordinate the Regional Compact for STEM Education - a collaborative among the region's academic, economic development and business communities to develop a high-skilled workforce that can respond and succeed in a 21st Century knowledge-driven economy.

). AMETEK has understood from the beginning the important role STEM education plays in training and equipping our region's workforce to meet this demand."

The AMETEK grant is the latest funding DVIRC has received for the regional STEM initiative. Last spring, DVIRC was awarded a $500,000 grant from the Lenfest Foundation to develop a pipeline of retired military officers from the Armed Services The Constitution authorizes Congress to raise, support, and regulate armed services for the national defense. Additional funding has come from the Dolfinger-McMahon Foundation and Citizen's Bank. In 2003, DVIRC and its partners received $3 million in federal funding to build educational capacity and enrollment for AET programs in the region. The program was widely regarded as an unqualified success.

"As a leading manufacturer in the Philadelphia region, we are proud to support DVIRC's efforts to address the challenges facing our education system and its relationship with the marketplace," says Jim Visnic, vice president and general manager of AMTEK's Chemical Products Division.
