Bourne Bridge (1935), across the canal, made the town an entry point to Cape Cod and a resort and commercial center. SUPREMACY: EXTENDED (12) The second part of Matt Damon's superspy action franchise - a slick, fast-paced thriller in which he evades would-be captors, bumps off assassins and generally comes off as pretty damn cool. Rating: **** 300 (18) This tale of Spartans facing monstrous armies is simply stunning. It looks beautiful and the stirring storyline is brilliantly rendered. Scot Gerard Butler shows he is a genuine superstar as King Leonidas. Incredible. Rating: ***** THE HILLS HAVE EYES 2 (18) A formulaic, unnecessary sequel to a formulaic, unnecessary remake. The mutants from the first film return to attack a group of National Guards with predictably gory go·ry adj. go·ri·er, go·ri·est 1. Covered or stained with gore; bloody. 2. Rating: * THAT 70S SHOW: SEASON 6 (PG) Wonderfully silly US sitcom that made stars of Ashton Kutcher This article is about the actor. For the Internet humorist, see Zug.com. Perfect, unchallenging TV for lazy nights. Rating: ***** JEKYLL: SEASON 1 (15) James Nesbitt is on fine form in this modern day version of Dr Jekyll and Mr Hyde. Jekyll is married with a couple of kids and has managed to hide this from nasty alter-ego Hyde...but it's all about to go wrong. Rating: **** This is the sound that has inspired Amerie and Rihanna but Beyonce does it better. And she looks incredible in the video. Mickey McMonagle NELLY FURTADO IN GOD'S HANDS ***** This latest single from the stunning songstress song·stress n. 1. A woman who performs songs, especially ballads or popular songs. 2. A woman who writes songs. See Usage Note at -ess. will no doubt follow its predecessors into the upper echelons of the charts. This track is a dramatic change of pace from the rest of the upbeat, Timbaland-driven album Loose and it seems wishy-washy by comparison. It's a lovely song and shows off Nelly's amazing voice to perfection but it doesn't hold up next to Maneater or Promiscuous. Mickey McMonagle THE CORAL WHO'S GONNA FIND ME? ***** The Merseyside band return with a single from forthcoming album Roots & Echoes - an energetic track full of the catchy, melodies we love them for. There's also a classic sound, as if it's dipped in sunny 60s nostalgia. The album should be a treat. Avril Cadden THE CRIBS MOVING PICTURES ***** This trio of brothers - twins Gary and Ryan and Ross Jarman - are produced by Franz Ferdinand's Alex Kapranos and this is the second single from their third album, Men's Needs, Women's Needs. They are not pitch-perfect, the vocals are raw and there's a strong Wakefield accent from Gary Jarman. But they are as sharp as a tack with a cheeky wit reminiscent of Arctic Monkeys. They take a bit of getting used to but are fun and this has a catchy, singalong Noun 1. singalong - informal group singing of popular songs singsong singing, vocalizing - the act of singing vocal music chorus. It should be a hit. Avril Cadden ELVIS PERKINS WHILE YOU WERE SLEEPING ***** Perkins is the son of the late actor Anthony Perkins, star of Psycho. He writes beautifully-crafted, heartfelt and poignant songs that hint at tragedy. No surprise given his mother, Berry Berenson, died in one of the planes that hit the World Trade Centre on 9/11. Elvis - his real name - is quiet and understated but this soulful song shows he's a talent worth looking out for and comparable to Bob Dylan, Neil Young and Rufus Wainwright. A gentle, heartwarming heart·warm·ing or heart-warm·ing adj. 1. Causing gladness and pleasure. 2. Eliciting sympathy and tender feelings: a heartwarming tale. Adj. 1. track not to be missed. Avril Cadden DRAGONETTE GALORE ***** I've been banging on about this Canadian electro-pop duo for ages and have been listening to this album constantly since I got a preview copy six months ago. It's packed with slick, sexy hits Girls Aloud would love to have. I Get Around, Take It Like A Man, Jesus Doesn't Love Me, Competition and the Prince-like Black Limousine are storming tracks made for live performance. The only low point is the Lily Allen-meets-music hall Get Lucky. Mickey McMonagle DANCE MANIA 2 VARIOUS ARTISTS ***** This is a very good album in terms of its target market - young neds. For the average bam about town, this will be a wonderful addition to their collection of largely shoplifted CDs which blast cheesy cheesy (che´ze) caseous. music full of heavy kick drums and chipmunk chipmunk, rodent of the family Sciuridae (squirrel family). The chipmunk of the E United States and SE Canada is of the genus Tamias. The body of the common Eastern chipmunk, Tamias striatus, is about 5 to 6 in. vocals from their neon-decked Corsas. Shell-suited, spotty thugs dripping in sovereign rings and gold chains bearing their names will go mad for this album, offering Cascada, Mika, Flip And Fill, Infernal and DJ Casper. For me, it's as appealing as sharing a Jacuzzi with Michelle McManus. Mickey McMonagle |
