 DURACELL INTERNATIONAL NAMES NEW PRESIDENT FOR DURACELL EUROPE
 BETHEL, Conn., June 22 /PRNewswire/ -- Charles R. Perrin, president and chief operating officer of Duracell International Inc. (NYSE: DUR), today announced the appointment of Christophe Ripert to the position of president, Duracell Europe, and vice president, Duracell International Inc., effective July 1, 1992. Duracell Europe is the European operating unit of Duracell International Inc., and includes manufacturing, sales and marketing functions with headquarters in Crawley, England.
 Ripert has had overall management responsibility for the company's operations in France, Spain, Portugal, the Benelux countries and Switzerland. As president, Duracell Europe, he will have strategic and operational responsibilities for all of Duracell's European operations and will report to Perrin.
 Reporting to Ripert will be the heads of the European operating zones and various headquarters' staff functions. Presently based in Paris, Ripert will relocate to Duracell's European headquarters in the United Kingdom.
 Ripert succeeds Petar Schatz, who has assumed worldwide responsibility for new business ventures including Duracell's alliance with Toshiba Battery of Japan and Varta Batterie of Germany to develop nickel metal hydride rechargeable batteries. Schatz remains a member of the the board of Duracell International Inc. and will continue to report to C. Robert Kidder, Duracell's chairman and chief executive officer.
 Duracell International Inc. is the world's leading manufacturer of consumer alkaline batteries, which it sells primarily under the Duracell brand name. Other brand names the company sells in Europe include Superpila and Superpila Suprema in Italy; Daimon in Germany; and Tudor in northern Europe.
