DUQUESNE LIGHT EMPLOYEES TO RENOVATE THREE HOUSES FOR NEEDY FAMILIES

More than 50 Duquesne Light Company employees will pick up hammers and paintbrushes on Saturday, Sept. 18, to renovate three Braddock houses for needy families.
The houses, being developed by Habitat for Humanity, are located at 604 Fourth St., 611 Ajax Way and 148 Mills St.
The Duquesne Light volunteers are members of the utility's Employee Community Action Committee (ECAC), an employee-run group that devotes its time and resources to volunteerism to improve the quality of life in area communities.
The volunteers will work side by side with experienced Habitat for Humanity craftspeople on a variety of tasks, from painting to repairing roofs to installing electrical wiring. Work will begin at 9 a.m., and continue until 4 p.m.
According to Al Schubert, Habitat for Humanity Pittsburgh executive director, the ECAC members "have approached this with an energy and sense of organization that are unique."
Habitat for Humanity is an international nonprofit, ecumenical Christian organization that brings families and volunteers together to provide decent, affordable housing. The three Braddock houses should be ready for occupancy this fall.
