DUPOND RETURNS TO THE SPOTLIGHT.


Although Parisians have seen little of dancer Patrick Dupond since he was fired from the Paris Opera Ballet The Paris Opéra Ballet is the official ballet company of the Opéra national de Paris, otherwise known as the Palais Garnier, though known more popularly simply as the Paris Opéra.  in late 1997, the thirty-nine-year-old former etoile made a triumphant return in May at the Bercy Stadium.

In an unusual show staged by Olivier Panhuys and choreographed by Jean-Hugues Tanto Tanto may refer to several things. Please see:

, Dupond performed alongside the equestrian Ballet du Cadre Noir The Cadre Noir is an equestrian display team based in the city of Saumur in western France. The troop was founded in 1828, and gets its name from the black uniforms that are still used today. It is one of the most prestigious horsemanship school in the world.  de Saumur, the prestigious military riding school that has been the pride of France since its creation at Versailles in 1763.

Tanto, a longtime friend and former POB PoB - Prisoner of Bill  colleague of Dupond, designed the dancer's movements to highlight the parallels between the horses' training and that of a ballet star. "It is the story of a man meeting a horse," said Tanto prior to the May performances. "As they learn, they discover one another and share their skills."

"It was an amazing meeting," said Tanto. "The human contact between these two worlds, the military and the dance world, was more than just a contact, it was a discovery."
