DUP head south in language demo.

MEMBERS of the Rev Ian Paisley's DUP staged a protest in Dublin yesterday at the continuation of the cross-border body which promotes the Irish language.

An Foras Teanga was one of a number of bodies which carried on after the sus- pension of the power-sharing executive.

William McCrea, Assembly member from Mid Ulster, said: "During the referendum it was stated that there would only be a cross-border body if the Stormont Assembly functioned."

Mr McCrea said he was not opposed to anybody learning Irish, but that the terms by which the body was con- tinuing were wrong.
