DUO USE SLUR IN SLASH ATTACK; WHITES USE GLASS TO CUT LATINO MAN.

Deputies say they are looking for two white men who slashed a young Latino man with a shard of glass, called him a racial slur and shouted names of white supremacist gangs as they ran away.

Attacked while walking through a field with his older sister, the man suffered cuts on his neck and cheek that took 16 stitches to close, officials said.

``These incidents can't be tolerated,'' Palmdale Detective Steve Lankford said Monday. ``We're going to do everything in our power to get these two individuals into custody.''

Officials said that the unprovoked attack took place about 4:30 p.m. Thursday near Avenue R-8 and 25th Street East. Neither the victim nor his sister had seen either of the assailants before, they told officials. The woman, 19, was not hurt.

The woman said one of the assailants held a piece of glass between his fingers as he punched her brother, deputies said.

Disoriented after the attack, the victim was treated at the scene by paramedics and transported to a local hospital.

The assailants were described as white men with shaved heads. One was wearing a white tank top and dark pants.
