Attacked while walking through a field with his older sister, the man suffered cuts on his neck and cheek that took 16 stitches to close, officials said.

``These incidents can't be tolerated,'' Palmdale Detective Steve Lankford said Monday. ``We're going to do everything in our power to get these two individuals into custody.''

Officials said that the unprovoked attack took place about 4:30 p.m. Thursday near Avenue R-8 and 25th Street East. Neither the victim nor his sister had seen either of the assailants before, they told officials. The woman, 19, was not hurt.

The woman said one of the assailants held a piece of glass between his fingers as he punched her brother, deputies said.
