NICOLAS ANELKA tried on his eighth different club shirt for size last night but promised the Chelsea fans: "This time I'm here to stay."

Anelka completed his pounds 15million move to Stamford Bridge in time to make his Blues debut against Spurs this afternoon. But while his career has seen the 28-year-old spend no longer than two-and-a-half years at any of his former clubs, the France striker has told Chelsea boss Avram Grant that he plans to see out his top-flight days in west London.

Grant said: "You can look at the positive and the negatives. Nicolas has played for many clubs but at nearly 29 he's at a good age for a footballer and has said to us he wants to finish his career at Chelsea and win some titles, which is important to us. Nicolas had a bad reputation 10 years ago, but he has learned from his mistakes and he has changed.

I think his best years could be ahead of him."

Anelka has signed a three-and-a-half year deal - with an option for an extra season - worth pounds 87,000 a week.

The haggling between the clubs ended yesterday as Chelsea agreed an initial pounds 12.5million fee with Bolton also getting performance-related extras.
