DUNHAM TO BECOME PRESIDENT AND CEO OF CONOCO INC.


HOUSTON--(BUSINESS WIRE)--Oct. 10, 1995--Archie W. Dunham will become president and chief executive officer (CEO (1) (Chief Executive Officer) The highest individual in command of an organization. Typically the president of the company, the CEO reports to the Chairman of the Board. ) of Conoco Inc., a wholly owned DuPont subsidiary, on Jan. 1, 1996, succeeding Constantine S. "Dino" Nicandros, who is retiring.

Dunham, Conoco's executive vice president, exploration production, and a senior vice president of DuPont, also will become a member of DuPont's board of directors, DuPont executive vice president, and a member of the Office of the Chief Executive. He will continue to serve on the Conoco board of directors.

"Archie Dunham is an outstanding business leader who has had executive-level experience in both Conoco and the chemicals businesses of DuPont," Nicandros said. "He's determined and results-oriented, with high standards and expectations.

"Archie has significantly improved the quality of our businesses," Nicandros continued. "He led our upstream business to record earnings at a time when oil prices have declined substantially. He also has brought a much tighter focus to Conoco's exploration activities, allowing us to increase the value of Conoco by expanding our strategic global reserves and achieving higher productivity."

Succeeding Dunham as executive vice president, exploration production, will be R.E. McKee III, executive vice president, corporate strategy and development for Conoco, and senior vice president of DuPont.

Dunham, 56, joined Conoco in 1966. He held a number of managerial positions in Conoco's various businesses prior to being named executive vice president of petroleum products, North America North America, third largest continent (1990 est. pop. 365,000,000), c.9,400,000 sq mi (24,346,000 sq km), the northern of the two continents of the Western Hemisphere. , in 1985. In 1987 he became group vice president of DuPont's chemicals and pigments business and in 1989 assumed the same position for polymer products. In 1990, he became senior vice president, DuPont Polymers, and returned to Houston in 1992 to his current position. Dunham is a former chairman of DuPont's Environmental Leadership Council.

McKee, 49, joined Conoco in 1968 as an associate engineer in Conoco's New Orleans New Orleans (ôr`lēənz –lənz, ôrlēnz`), city (2006 pop. 187,525), coextensive with Orleans parish, SE La., between the Mississippi River and Lake Pontchartrain, 107 mi (172 km) by water from the river mouth; founded  office. During his career he has held a variety of U.S. and international assignments. In 1988, he was appointed chairman and managing director of Conoco (U.K.) Limited, a Conoco affiliate based in London, and elected a vice president of DuPont. He returned to Houston in 1991 as vice president, refining and marketing, North America, and was named senior vice president later that year. In 1992 he was appointed executive vice president, exploration production and administration, and was named to his current position in September 1994.

A native of Wyoming, McKee received a bachelor's degree in petroleum engineering from Colorado School of Mines Colorado School of Mines, at Golden; state supported, coeducational; chartered 1874. It was one of the first mineral engineering schools in the United States.  and a master's degree in industrial management from MIT MIT - Massachusetts Institute of Technology .
