DUCKS NOTEBOOK: TVERDOSVKY RIPS LACK OF FOCUS.

CHICAGO - The Ducks might have outshot and outchanced the Blackhawks on Wednesday, but several players weren't thrilled with the way Anaheim played in such a crucial game.

``We played only one period, they played better than us, it's as simple as that,'' said Oleg Tverdosvky, who felt the Ducks weren't as prepared to play as they should have been. ``We were losing all the battles. We have to play all 60 minutes; you don't beat people by playing 15 minutes.''

Paul Kariya didn't think the Ducks played poorly.

``It wasn't awful,'' he said. ``We had good intensity but not the kind of intensity you need to win must-win games. We didn't really let it all out until the third period and then the third goal really took the wind out of our sails.''

--Not converting: The Ducks have outshot their last four opponents (Phoenix, the Kings, Nashville and Chicago) 130-81, but they have been outscored 11-10 and are 2-2 in the four games.

The Ducks were unable to take advantage of three power plays in the game, but it wasn't because they didn't have any chances.

Teemu Selanne appeared to have a wide-open shot on Anaheim's first opportunity 3 1/2 minutes into the game, but Jocelyn Thibault made a sliding two-pad save on the winger's one-timer from the left circle.

At 2:11 of the second period, Kariya ripped a one-timer from the slot off the right post. Kariya, who also hit the right post in the third period, thought it went in.

``I don't know if it's possible for it to hit the post like that and not go in,'' said Kariya.

Coming into Wednesday, the Ducks' power play had converted 25 percent, scoring goals in 21 of 29 games.

--Back on the ice: Fredrik Olausson returned to the lineup Wednesday after missing Monday night's game with the flu, but it wasn't a night to remember for the veteran defenseman - Olausson was on the ice for four of Chicago's five goals.
