DUCKS NOTEBOOK: LONG LAYOFF HELPFUL.

ANAHEIM - The Mighty Ducks

Mighty Ducks is a half-hour Disney animated series aired on ABC and The Disney Afternoon in the fall of 1996. Twenty-six episodes total were produced.
will start the next round of the playoffs on the road after a long layoff. This is nothing new for them. In fact, they probably wouldn't want it any other way.

``We had a layoff after the season, we had a layoff after Detroit (in the first round),'' Ducks coach Mike Babcock Mike Babcock (born April 29, 1963 in Saskatoon, Saskatchewan, Canada [1]) is a Canadian hockey head coach and former player. From 2002 to 2005 he was the head coach of the NHL's Anaheim Mighty Ducks, leading the Ducks to their first appearance in the Stanley Cup Finals  said.

Each time, the Ducks won the first two games of the next series. After sweeping the Minnesota Wild The Minnesota Wild are a professional ice hockey team based in Saint Paul, Minnesota. Their symbol is a bear made to look like the wilderness. They are members of the Northwest Division of the Western Conference of the National Hockey League (NHL).  in the Western Conference finals, the Ducks face the same situation entering the Stanley Cup Stanley Cup: see hockey, ice.

The Devils have won the Stanley Cup three times, in 1995, 2000, and 2003.  on Monday means the finals won't start until May 27.

Neither Babcock nor any of his players seemed the least bit concerned. Rest is a weapon, Ducks goalie Jean-Sebastien Giguere said. You can never have too much of it, center Steve Rucchin Steve Rucchin (born July 4, 1971 Thunder Bay, Ontario) is a centre who currently plays for the Atlanta Thrashers of the National Hockey League.

said. The Ducks will even take today off from practice.

The Ducks' approach will be the same as it's been all season, although the reality is, ``We have to be better than we've been so far,'' Babcock said, ``and that's going to be the challenge for us, is to put our best efforts together. Not individually, but collectively.''

That's something they're capable of doing, Babcock said. The Ducks have steadily improved all season.

``If you'd have said six months ago that we'd be here, I would've said, `No, that's probably not possible,' '' Babcock said.

The Ducks already have had the best regular season and the best playoff performance in franchise history with a cast that includes a number of new faces, including first-year coach Babcock. Oates said he can feel everyone in the room has the confidence they can win, a feeling he wasn't sure was there in his only other appearance in the Stanley Cup Finals, with the Washington Capitals in 1998.

Even if the Ducks don't win, this year's team has laid the foundation for future success, something Oates said is important to him.
