Mighty Ducks players, coaches, front-office personnel and other members of the organization were introduced.

Ducks first-year coach Mike Babcock Mike Babcock (born April 29, 1963 in Saskatoon, Saskatchewan, Canada [1]) is a Canadian hockey head coach and former player. From 2002 to 2005 he was the head coach of the NHL's Anaheim Mighty Ducks, leading the Ducks to their first appearance in the Stanley Cup Finals  and the team's players expressed gratitude to the fans and promised an even better result next season.

``Next year, same time, different result,'' Ducks captain Paul Kariya said.

Babcock said this season set a foundation that should allow a much-improved franchise to establish itself as a consistent winner.

``They had a dream,'' Babcock said of his players. ``That dream is just staring now. We look forward to things getting better and better here in Anaheim as we pursue our dream.''

It was quite a season for the Ducks and their fans. The Ducks named a new general manager and coach after a third consecutive season missing the playoffs. They started to reshape the roster before the season began and continued to do so as they gained steam to close out the regular season.

The Ducks were not expected to get past the first round when they started the postseason. But goalie Jean-Sebastien Giguere quickly became the story of the playoffs when he led the Ducks to a first-round sweep of the defending Stanley Cup-champion Detroit Red Wings

The Ducks eliminated the top-seeded Dallas Stars to reach the conference finals for the first time, then swept the Minnesota Wild to become Western Conference champions.

The Ducks seemed overmatched after the first two games of the Finals but rebounded to push the series to a seventh game.
